Richland High School Choir Audition Information
Thank you for considering auditioning to be a part of the Richland High School Choral Program. We feature four different outstanding ensembles:
Concert Choir-this is more of a training choir, not requiring and audition, for those that want to give choir a try, or just learn how to sing. We are always open to new singers joining our ranks.
Treble Choir-This is an auditioned ensemble for women only. We explore music written for soprano and alto voices in 2-part, 3-part, and 4-part harmonies. This group will travel and perform locally.
Chamber Choir-This is an auditioned ensemble for both male and female voices. You are expected to be able to read music and learn it quickly as you will learn a lot of music in this group. This group will travel and perform in competitions.
Jazz Reaction-This is a select auditioned ensemble for male and female voices plus rhythm section (piano, bass, and drums) that explores the music of vocal jazz. We perform one person on a microphone, so the numbers are limited. You are expected to read music and be able to work on your part outside of class. This group will travel and perform in competitions.
There will be a sign-up sheet in the Choir Room where you can make an appointment for your audition. Please remember that these groups (Treble, Jazz Reaction, and Chamber) are by audition only. Please don’t try to get around the system by just registering for one of them without speaking to Mr. Fryhling first. The audition process makes it fair for everyone.
Thank you for your interest in being a part of our choral family at Richland High School and I look forward to hearing you!
Sincerely,
Greg Fryhling,
RHS Choral Director
